I should doze in front of my PC more often, but now I really want to know what the plot of The Vampire Suicides is. It's a great title, so well done brain, even if I suspect it's due to a little too much Jonathan Coulton... The reason for my tiredness is that I started my new job today. Transport's a nightmare- that damn bus takes an hour to do 12 miles! It's a pity, because the job itself aligns really well with my existing skills. I just need to sort out some sort of car share. And buy more blouses, because I've never had a job that was "business attire" before. Current Mood: sleepyCurrent Music: Blue Sunny Day- JoCo |

I've just had a very sobering moment, appropriately for the day. I'm just back from the war memorial in the city centre, and things have changed since I was little. When I was learning to read the names, it was mostly people who'd died in the 1940's. But today, one of the little wooden crosses with the poppy in the middle was for a Pte (I guess that means Private?) who lived from 1988-2008. I'm not sure exactly why, but that's unbearable. I was learning to read the names around war memorials before this poor kid was born. His whole life, start to finish, only took twenty years. I guess he wasn't actually a "kid". He was an adult, and he was a soldier, but he just seems so damn young to have been killed. Current Mood: melancholy |

More Sesame Street goodies. I've just realised- he's like a gateway drug for Hammer Horrors or that sparkly stalker-boy. Dammit, Count! Glee! Current Mood: bouncy |

Getting flustered ( can you tell me how to get... )I had a lovely time with my sister and my niece, I showed them round Derby Museum (modern art is very odd, isn't it?) though we ended up skipping the mummy, which to my mind is the best part of the building. It now looks as though I start at my new job on the 24th, which I'm trying to convince is just as well, because at least that gives me more of a chance to catch up on Nanowrimo. I don't think I'll be winning this year, but I'll keep battling until the end. Inspiration is good, bloody-mindedness is better. Current Mood: flustered |

Tiny Ginger GLEE! Now come on; how is that not a wonderful logo? Nanowrimo was probably going to kick my arse this year, until suddenly I abandoned my previous effort and started a new modern fantasy title. With a female protagonist and a healthy dollop of mythology. I know, I know, I'm suitably ashamed of my small writerly comfort zone. Still, I'm back in the game, as it were. Kill me?
I have been around, but mostly not feeling too bright since getting back from Kent at the weekend. I've now got a nose, throat and forehead stuffed full of cold. And even a stomach stuffed full of home made chicken soup isn't necessarily counteracting it. The problem here is that when I should have been tucked up in bed yesterday, I realised how much I missed Tom, Em and Freddie, and resolved to be well enough to visit town with them. I had a lovely time, but I obviously got a careless with my spoon count, because that night my internal thermostat was shot. I spent twelve hours either way too hot or way too cold, alternating every couple of minutes. Hell, it's taken me about an hour and half to write this LJ entry because I keep leaning against the wall and coughing feebly. Oooh, I'm shuddering. Back to bed!
